The issue of the lack of cover and response times were raised at the recent meeting of the Joint Policing Committee held at County House in Lifford.Community activist Joe Boland raised the issue and said there were public concerns about having sufficient response times and resources in the case of a situation when an armed Garda response was needed.Garda Superintendent Michael Finan told the meeting that a second such unit was now being set up in Donegal.He also revealed how recruits were now being sought for training from within An Garda Siochana in Donegal to be part of such a unit.
