No Beyond Good and Evil 2 and no new Nintendo collaboration, but the show did end with an original title, Gods and Monsters, which seems to explore humanity’s relationship with the divine. It makes sense considering how increasingly mythological the last few Assassin’s Creed games were. For more on E3 2019 watch these trailers. Unlike some of other companies, the French Empire of video game development doesn’t have to rely on that much filler when franchises ranging from Just Dance to Tom Clancy are all under its umbrella.Although a bit lighter than previous years, this trend continued at Ubisoft’s E3 2019 show, which began after a nice but surreal PSA from Ice-T about gaming chat etiquette. An appreciated bit of progressiveness from a publisher that thinks saying The Division 2, a game about fighting through war-torn DC, is “apolitical” somehow makes it more mature as you storm through the Pentagon in new updates. Fellow rappers T-Pain and Lil Yachty participated in a Rainbow Six Siege session after the show. The next Assassin’s Creed game (and its new vikings theme) may not be coming until next year, but the opening Assassin’s Creed orchestra concert took us through the franchise’s musical history.
