LANCASTER – Two men were in custody Friday after kidnapping an acquaintance from a downtown Lancaster street, pistol-whipping him and taking him to a bank to make a withdrawal, officials said. Once let out of the men’s stolen truck to enter the bank, the victim told bank employees that he had been kidnapped and that his kidnappers were waiting outside, where deputies found them within 30 seconds of getting the call, sheriff’s officials said. Arrested were Rashiedi Brown, 38, who was already wanted on drug and stolen-property warrants, and Gerald Beckwith, deputies said. Booked on suspicion of kidnapping and the warrants, Brown was being held without bail, and Beckwith, booked on suspicion of robbery, was being held with bail set at $50,000. Deputies said the victim, whose name was not released but who was described as a man about 40, had been near the Antelope Valley Senior Center on Jackman Street when a man identified as Brown drove up in a stolen truck. 160Want local news?Sign up for the Localist and stay informed Something went wrong.
