Photo courtesy of Port Authority police.By John Heinis/Hudson County ViewHeriberto Quiroz, 68, of Union City, was charged with theft of service, according to Port Authority police spokesman Joe Pentangelo.At about 9:10 a.m., Port Authority Police Officer Lionel Gonzalez was on the George Washington bridge toll plaza in Fort Lee when he saw a 1982 Kenworth dump truck being driven towards the bridge’s upper level.The truck passed through an EZPass only lane and the toll indicator read ‘Toll Unpaid.” As a result, Gonzalez stopped the truck and interviewed the driver, officials said.The driver, a man in his 70’s was an employee of US National LLC, and a records check indicated that the Kenworth dump truck had a delinquent account with over 300 open violations, authorities said.The violations totaled over $36,000 in tolls and fees for this truck, prompting the truck’s owner to be contacted and arrive at the GWB police facility.Further investigation revealed that Quiroz had 3 more delinquent EZPass accounts that brought the total owed to over $ 71,000 in unpaid tolls and fees.The truck was impounded and the Quiroz was arrested, police said.
