The costs were expected to be $125-150 million.The operator added that the higher-than expected sales of smartphones, including the iPhone, will hit profits. This is due to the subsidies the operator pays on devices to provide customers on long-term contracts with discounts.AT&T sold 10.2 million smartphones in the period, giving it a total of 26.9 million smartphone sales for 2012.The company is due to release its fourth-quarter results on 24 January.
